Description

Our London office is seeking a talented and motivated façade engineer to support our growing façade design and development team. We are currently working with some of the world’s leading architects, developers, and contractors on projects including super-tall commercial developments, extreme high-performance high-rise residential buildings, art galleries and museums, and entertainment and leisure complexes.  The role will involve participating in a variety of projects, providing detailed technical and design support, engineering analysis, and advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the client, architect, and other consultants to determine the optimal façade design

  • Work with the larger design team to support projects, producing sketches, system design development, technical analysis reports, and specifications

  • Perform site inspections, factory visits, and review both visual and performance mock-ups and prepare relevant technical reports

  • Represent VIA at workshops and meetings and communicating with clients and managing relationships

  • Review own and other’s work as part of quality assurance

  • Contribute to internal R&D efforts across a range of initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in engineering or architectural engineering

  • 3+ years’ experience in façade design, detailing, and analysis in a consulting, construction, or contracting firm

  • Strong technical foundation and a solid understanding of building performance and science issues

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical analysis and evaluation of system designs and outcomes

  • Demonstrated experience in developing detailed drawings for curtainwall or other architectural façade systems

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for detail 2D drawing development, Rhino for 3D modelling, and an FEA package such as Strand7 or similar is required

  • Knowledge of Revit, Grasshopper, and LBNL Therm/BISCO/Flixo is advantageous

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A strong attention to detail

  • Initiative, proactive, and collaborative working methodology

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
