Modern computational design practices, digital development, and a 3D first approach are central to our practice. We utilize technology to work collaboratively and iteratively to review, analyse, manipulate, augment, and construct building information as data-rich three-dimensional models and representations. We use these tools and practices throughout a project’s development to bring clarity and legibility to modern design problems to achieve tangible benefits in system design and a mastery of key system drivers and constraints.

Description

Our London office is seeking a talented and motivated Computational Facade Consultant to augment our design computational team and efforts and help propel an industry-leading agenda of computation innovation across a diverse set of exceptional international projects.  The role will involve executing the application of computational design across a range of design consulting and contractor-led fabrication projects, including providing support for technical analysis such as engineering, thermal, and building performance modelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop digital workflows for the delivery of complex projects from concept to completion

  • Contribute to the development of internal design modelling tools and R&D initiatives

  • Work with the internal design teams, clients, architects, and other consultants to provide support, analysis, and documentation for projects

  • Represent VIA a meetings

  • Use parametric, thermal, and other analytic software and interpret their outputs

  • Review own and other’s work as part of quality assurance

  • Provide support in creation of design presentations and reports

Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree or certification in a related discipline (architecture, computational design, civil engineering, etc.)

  • 2+ years of proven computation design experience in a professional setting

  • Solid understanding of geometry

  • Demonstrated experience in at least one programming language (C# or Python a plus) is advantageous, but not required

  • Demonstrated experience providing inter-program operability through their respective APIs is advantageous, but not required

  • Demonstrated advanced skills in Rhino and Grasshopper

  • Experience with eleFront is advantageous, but not required

  • Good skills in graphical representation and communication

  • Experience with Revit is advantageous as well as interoperability between Rhino and Revit

  • A strong attention to detail

  • Initiative and proactive working methodology

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
